Arkansas FY23 JRJ Loan Repayment Program

The project goals are to (1) encourage qualified attorneys to seek full-time employment as prosecuting attorneys or public defenders and to increase retention in employment by providing up to $10,000 of eligible student loan repayment per year for those applicants who maintain their employment for three or more years. (2) Provide loan repayment awards of up to a maximum of $10,000 per year to as many applicants as possible, based upon the relative financial need of each applicant. (3) Insure to the greatest extent possible an equitable distribution of grant awards to all geographic areas of the state.

The Office of the Prosecutor Coordinator has worked with the Arkansas Public Defender Commission to distribute program materials to all eligible applicants. The Office of the Prosecutor Coordinator has worked with the Arkansas Public Defender Commission to help increase and retain the number of full-time active prosecuting attorneys positions and public defenders serving within the state prior to JRJ funding opportunities.
