AS - FY 23 John R. Justice (JRJ) Formula Grant Program

This grant proposal is for grant funding to alleviate some of the student loans of attorneys in exchange for their services to our island nation of American Samoa.  A territory of the United States in the south Pacific, American Samoa is limited in having affordable legal assistance. Majority of the local attorneys who reside in the island nation have private practices and set retainers that most of the island nationals cannot afford. With this funding, it is our hope that other attorneys would agree to be employed with either the Attorney General's Office or Public Defender's office for their services that would not only be paid for by the government but will have some of their student loans paid for as well.
