Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $149,504)
The Mississippi Office of Homeland Security (MOHS) will utilize grant funds to train the Mississippi Urban Search and Rescue (MS-USAR) unit, local K-9 teams, and local first responders. The MOHS proposes to use awarded to launch a comprehensive training program and multi-media outreach awareness campaign, to reduce injury and death in missing individuals with forms of dementia, or with developmental disabilities. This program will close the training gap that currently exists within Mississippi and help first responders with best practices, tools, and training to help local individuals quickly, efficiently, and successfully.
