GET SAFE's FY23 Elopement Prevention and Response Education for at-risk individuals, community members, and law enforcement in the state of California.

As rates of autism and dementia increase, the number of people who may elope from a safe location also increases. Unfortunately, California does not have a unifying method to locate, identify, and reunite elopers with their loved ones. As the sole applicant on this request, GET SAFE will develop and deliver a person-centered prevention and recovery training program for law enforcement, emergency dispatchers, caregivers and service professionals, and at-risk individuals. This would create the first statewide coordinated effort among these groups to reduce instances of injury and death in missing Californians with autism or dementia.
