Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $997,696)

Lee County Drug Court Program is a pre- and post-adjudication court. The drug court program will utilize funds to be strengthened in three ways. It will expand Lee County’s Drug Court assessment and case management service components to respond to the needs of high-risk probationers through expanding access and use of MAT to participants. It will expand transportation options and access for participants to attend court, probation appointments, random testing, treatment appointments, support meeting, education or employment, or other appointments needed to aid in gaining sobriety and learning new ways to live sober. It will ensure there are no gaps in the recovery process for participants from inpatient treatment to recovery home, to independent living. Lee County is requesting Category 2 Enhancement funds for the grant. The proposed subrecipient is Sinnissippi Centers, Inc., and $483.670 of the funds is allocated to their agency. The number of participants proposed to receive services over the life of the grant is 40 annually, totaling 160 over the life of the grant. The average length of the program is 21 months, and the minimum length of time for completion is 12 months. The target population is adult men and women 18 years of age or older arrested for felony drug related offenses who have active substance use problems, are nonviolent offenders, are high-risk high needs, voluntarily agree to participate in the court, do not serve as informants for any law enforcement agency, are preferably residents of Lee County, and have no history of serious, persistent mental or psychotic illnesses. The jurisdiction has access to all forms of MAT except for Methadone. NADCP’s 10 Best Practice Standards are all used by the drug court team.
