Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $169,127)

The Montgomery County Commission seeks to develop the Central Alabama Shared DNA Technology Project. The goal is to adopt best practices of forensic science to solve and deter violent crime via a collaboration of District Attorney offices and law enforcement agencies in Alabama’s 2nd, 5th, 15th, and 19th Judicial Circuits. Project activities include the purchase of premier DNA technology tools; training for crime scene technicians, investigators, and prosecutors; and development of protocols and procedures to apply DNA technology in fighting crime
