The City of Cleveland Heights will utilize grant funds to establish a partnership with the Cleveland Peacemakers Alliance (CPA). CPA has operated for over 13 years, executing critical programming aimed at disrupting the cycle of violence among those aged 15–25. Funding will be used to expand CPA’s existing community-based violence intervention program to significantly reduce the rate of youth violence within Cleveland Heights. The city will work collaboratively with CPA in the execution of the targeted violence prevention and interruption work, with a focus on programming that engages young people, promotes connections to the relevant social and economic resources, fosters trust in law enforcement, and prevents the escalation of violence.
