BJA FY 23 Virtual Reality De-escalation Site-Based Initiative

The project will purchase a virtual reality (VR) training simulator, the hosting of multiple sessions of three professional, instructor-led, de-escalation courses, and partnering with an institution of higher education for the research and development of a comprehensive, state-of-the-art training program, and conducting assessments and surveys of performance metrics. The agency’s intent is to include officers and staff from surrounding law enforcement agencies in the on-site de-escalation training courses and the immersive, scenario-based practical application sessions conducted with the VR simulator.
