The Chippewa Cree Tribe’s (CCT) goal with this project is to ensure the Chippewa Cree Law Enforcement Services (CCLES) is a state-of-the-art facility that meets operational standards as well as the health and safety needs of the staff, prisoners, and the public. The tribe is proposing to increase the safety and health of the jail population, the general public, and the staff entrusted to administer the CCLES. Grant funds will be used to: (1) purchase a new security and electronics system throughout the entire facility; (2) upgrade the HVAC and building automation system (BAS) within the facility; (3) upgrade the plumbing to address health and safety concerns in the building; and (4) install a prison security fencing system to thwart escapes and the transmission of prohibited and potentially dangerous goods such as prepaid phones, drugs, weapons, and other illicit items from the outside.
