2023 CTAS

The Delaware Nation is a federally recognized tribe located in Anadarko, Oklahoma. With this CTAS Purpose Area 2 funding, our Nation’s leadership will work with the DOJ-provided TTA provider to create a strategic plan for expanding and evolving our existing courts and law enforcement capabilities to provide a much fuller, more comprehensive set of services for our citizens. We hope to better envision and plan new and improved aspects of our justice system including, among others: alternative dispute resolution options, culturally appropriate interventions, community-oriented policing as we grow our law enforcement function, youth-focused services including issues relating to custody, and victim support services that we can deliver ourselves rather than having to refer our citizens to local or regional programs. A new, carefully planned and implemented comprehensive tribal justice system will help our Nation address the needs of our citizens and usher in a new era of improved safety and wellness for our community. Strategic planning represents the critical first step on this path.
