The Yankton Sioux Tribe will use this award to strengthen the Tribal Justice System for the Citizens of their Nation on the Yankton Sioux Tribe’s Reservation in South Dakota. The project will strengthen the sovereignty of the Yankton Sioux Tribe by establishing culturally appropriate codes that promote healing and personal sovereignty for the Ihanktonwan Nation. In addition to developing codes, the tribe will plan and launch the Ihanktonwan Healing to Wellness Court by the end of year 3 and develop a website and printed materials to share knowledge and understanding with the Tribal Community.
