SWAT Team Response Vehicle

The La Paz County Sheriff’s Department will utilize this funding to procure a new Special Response Team (SRT) vehicle to provide rapid and safe response to those critical incidents requiring a specialized vehicle. The County Regional SRT Team (comprised of members of the Sheriff’s Office, and the Parker and Quartzsite Police Departments) is a regional effort to provide specialized services to La Paz County, Mohave County, Yuma County, and San Bernardino County (California). This vehicle - along with the SRT Team - will support federal law enforcement operations of the CBP/Border Patrol (Yuma Sector) in dealing with cross-border incidents involving heavily armed narco-cartel members along the US/Mexico Border. It will also support the Arizona Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol Division, which is responsible for traffic enforcement on Arizona and US highways. The vehicle is designed to provide protection from a variety of small arms, assault rifles, explosives, and IED threats.
