Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $458,000)

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department will utilize funding to implement the Pima County Adult Detention Complex (PCADC) Front Desk Security Upgrade. The purpose is to provide a secure and manageable public entrance and lobby. Project activities include pre-screening processes and equipment in addition to physical barriers designed to increase safety and security for the entire facility. Expected outcomes include identifying and reducing contraband entering the facility and bolstering a potential soft target against threats to and from the public as well as the facility and those within. The PCADC is operated by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, but is utilized by numerous law enforcement and legal agencies, in addition to the operations staff, inmates housed within, public visitors, and previously mentioned entities that are the intended beneficiaries of the project.
