Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $990,000)
The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office proposes to implement the purchase of three (3) Search and Rescue Airboats. The purpose is to replace the current Sheriff's Office owned Husky Airboats which were purchased in late 2004, early 2005 and have surpassed their operational lifespan, in order to continue to effect search and rescues in the 144 square miles of Winnebago County waterways. Project activities include soliciting for proposals on the open market, selecting the most appropriate resource to satisfy needs, and purchasing the boats. Expected outcomes include providing lifesaving services to individuals who otherwise would fall victim to ice/water related emergencies. Persons in need of emergency rescue services are the intended beneficiaries of the project. There are no subrecipient activities.
