Police Department Equipment

The Portland Police Department is seeking to replace equipment utilized by our FBI-certified Hazardous Devices Unit (HDU). The Portland PD HDU (aka bomb squad) is one of just three FBI certified teams in the State of Maine. Team members are trained and equipped to identify, neutralize, and dispose of explosives other hazardous materials in a manner which minimizes the threat to public safety.  The team's existing equipment, which is required to maintain certification was primarily purchased in the 2004 and 2005 and has reached the end of its useful life and is due to be replaced.
