Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $335,000)
The Pawtucket Police Department plans to use the Byrne Discretionary Community Project Grant funds consistent with its project “Public Safety Vehicle and Equipment Upgrade.” The purpose/goal of the project is to purchase a Police Patrol Rescue Vehicle; a Police Transport Rescue Vehicle; vehicle radios, portable rifle-rated ballistic shields, breaching equipment, medical equipment, and portable radios for both of these vehicles; and a Virtual Reality Firearms Training Simulator. With these vehicles and equipment, the police department will increase its readiness and effectiveness and, in the process, enhance the safety of the public and members of the police department. The police department will be better equipped, trained, and prepared to serve the residents of Pawtucket. This would likely result in better living conditions, while also increasing public safety.
