San Carlos Apache Police Department Equipment Needs

The SCAPD facilitates public safety for a community of approximately 12,000 and a tribal membership of approximately 16,000. To facilitate public safety the Tribe is requesting an investment to capital and expertise. Initiating a public safety response involves building the capacity of the Tribe in equipment and supplies. The Tribe proposes to purchase fully operationalize four patrol units capable of remote data processing and reporting and digital forensic tools. The Tribe will also ensure safety as a priority by providing start-up costs for up to four officers with uniforms, tactical gear, and body armor. Improving law enforcement and first responder community response will be complimented by implementation of a K9 unit. With the new equipment we are proposing to increase the capacity of law enforcement to improve response times while being cognizant of crime scene preservation.
