Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $963,000)

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office will serve as fiscal agent in the disbursement of funds to law enforcement agencies within Summit and Stark Counties that has been made available through the Summit and Stark County Local Law Enforcement Assistance Program. The funds are to be used for the purchase of patrol vehicles for the benefit and improvement of public safety.

Each beneficiary law enforcement agency will purchase a patrol vehicle, with the cost not to exceed $42,675 per vehicle. The agency will then apply for reimbursement from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office to cover the cost of the vehicle. The cost of vehicle “upfit” modifications are not included in this funding disbursement, only the vehicle itself.

The beneficiary agencies that will receive funding for the purchase of 1 vehicle are as follows: Village of Boston Heights Police Department, Village of Lakemore Police Department, Village of Mogadore Police Department, City of Munroe Falls Police Department, City of New Franklin Police Department, City of Norton Police Department, Village of Peninsula Police Department, Sagamore Hills Township Police Department, Springfield Township Police Department, and the City of Tallmadge Police Department. Agencies that will receive funding for the purchase of 2 vehicles are as follows: The Stark County Sheriff’s Office, City of Canton Police Department.

As acting fiscal agent, the Summit County Sheriff's Office will receive funding for 6 vehicles, including “upfit” modifications to those vehicles.
