Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $963,000)

Recidivism Engagement Network Training & Retention Initiative (RE-N-TRI) is a collaborative community response program between subrecipient Truancy Prevention and Outreach Program (TPOP) under the Clark County Department of Juvenile Justice and applicant Diphrent, Inc. The objectives and expected outcomes are to reduce recidivism, increase school attendance and graduation rates, and improve employment prospects for youth within the juvenile justice system. The initiative promotes education, public safety, and crime prevention for youth and young adults within the juvenile justice system who have been identified and classified as chronically absent, repeat offenders in the juvenile detention center, and those who are at risk of becoming negatively involved with law enforcement.

The primary activities are designed for two nineteen (19) week hands-on instructional courses in three specific educational and vocational tracks: Production, Fine Arts, and Digi World. Students will begin general studies and application meetings before breaking into specified groups based on their interests in the three program tracks. Students will learn the basic functionality of modern technology and how it applies to them with hands-on job training and implementation through workforce development.

RE-N-TRI will operate in North Las Vegas, where a considerable portion of our program's at-risk youth reside and account for a disproportionately high number of referrals to the juvenile justice system. The intended beneficiaries include youth identified as chronically absent, repeat offenders, or at risk of negative involvement with law enforcement; families of at-risk youth receiving support through case management and coordinated interventions; and the community.
