Behavioral Evaluation and Response Team Expansion

The Behavioral Evaluation and Response Team (BEAR) provides and alternative to law enforcement response to all mental health, substance use and domestic violence calls that come through the 911 communications system. The team operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week with a response time of under 30 minutes. The increasing call volume and continued efforts to reach out to the underserved communities has made it necessary for the team to expand. The funds requested will strengthen the response times, enhance our ability to provide follow up services and ensure each citizens of Winston-Salem receives the appropriate level of care.
