Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $420,000)
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department has identified a critical need for six new vehicles equipped with License Plate Readers (LPRs) to enhance public safety and operational efficiency. LPR technology allows for the automatic capture and analysis of license plate data, aiding in real-time identification of stolen vehicles, wanted individuals, and other criminal activities. The implementation of LPR-equipped vehicles is expected to significantly improve the department’s ability to monitor and respond to traffic violations, support criminal investigations, and increase overall situational awareness. This technological upgrade aligns with the department’s strategic goals to leverage advanced tools for crime prevention and community protection, ultimately contributing to a safer Monroe County.
