The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office requests funding for the purchase of the IBIS BrassTrax/MatchPoint NIBIN systems to quickly, efficiently, and effectively identify, link, and solve violent firearms offenses. Employing this technology will enable us to reduce investigative timelines, link gun crimes to offenders, and better protect our communities and neighborhoods from violent offenders.  This technology will enhance public safety and reduce gun crime in Manatee County, Florida, and the surrounding communities. The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office currently operates a NIBIN firearms test-fire room and trailer and function checks and test fires firearms internally, partnering agencies, and the State Attorney’s Office. Additionally, we have an outstanding partnership with the local ATF agents and currently have an ATF Task Force Officer(TFO) to help combat firearm-related volent crime. The Manatee County Sheriff's Office has a NIBIN-certified deputy who is trained in NIBIN capturing and is also a certified trainer for NIBIN capturing in the IBIS BrassTrax system.
