Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $1,948,000)

The Town of Queen Creek proposes to implement the Critical Incident Management Resources project. The purpose is to enhance the ability of the Queen Creek Police Department to respond to and mitigate critical incidents that occur in the Town of Queen Creek and surrounding communities. Project activities include the purchase of a Mobile Command Vehicle, a Rapid Response Vehicle, and portable vehicle barriers. Expected outcomes include the use of the Mobile Command Vehicle to respond to large-scale or complex critical incidents, public safety emergencies, and criminal investigations to enhance incident command functions; the use of the Rapid Response Vehicle to quickly deploy specialized police units to critical incidents and provide a mobile workspace for those units and their equipment, and to serve as an incident command center for smaller scale incidents; and the use of portable vehicle barriers at large public events to mitigate the risk of vehicle ramming attacks and to prevent the entry of vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices and impaired drivers into secured areas.
