The Overdose Rate in Delaware County and neighboring counties is significantly high due to the close proximity to Philadelphia. In Delco someone overdoses every 7-9 minutes. It was estimated that over 65,000 doses of Nalaxone were administered by EMS during 2019-2021. First Responders do not have support or resources to help place patients in need of help with SUD, MH, Trauma and/or additional behavioral health needs. We can potentially assist the First Responders by intervening on these patients, connecting them to a treatment resource and disrupting repeated calls to the same sites – allowing a more long term positive outcome,.
