Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $165,202)

The New Hampshire Department of Justice (NH DOJ) is the implementing state agency for the Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Program for State Prisoners (RSAT) grant. Currently the NH DOJ has active RSAT funding subgrant programming in three of the state’s ten county jails. In conjunction with these programs, staff administers conduct risk and needs assessments, random drug testing, and and utilize a case manager to support aftercare services.

Upon receiving the anticipated RSAT award, the NH DOJ will release a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) that will be open for all ten county jails and the NH Department of Corrections, however, depending upon the number of eligible applications received will determine whether other available means to distribute the funding will be utilized to ensure RSAT funding is being utilized effectively and efficiently. Subgrantees will be required to provide comprehensive, holistic, client-centered aftercare, and to closely monitor those individuals with substance use disorders. Subgrantees will need to ensure that random and frequent drug testing for participants while they participate in evidence-based treatment practices, both behind the wall and while in aftercare programming, which includes the availability of Medical Assistant Treatment (MAT).
