Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $65,083)
The project aims to encourage qualified attorneys to seek full-time employment as prosecuting attorneys or public defenders and to increase retention by providing up to $10,000 per year in eligible student loan repayment for those who maintain employment for three or more years. It also seeks to provide loan repayment awards of up to $10,000 per year to as many applicants as possible, based on their relative financial need. Additionally, the project strives to ensure an equitable distribution of grant awards across all geographic areas of the state.
The Office of the Prosecutor Coordinator will collaborate with the Arkansas Public Defender Commission to distribute program materials to all eligible applicants. Together, they will work to increase and retain the number of full-time prosecuting attorneys and public defenders within the state, in preparation for JRJ funding opportunities.
