The Lake County Crime Laboratory has recently filled it's final available FTE position in the DNA department. The laboratory's grant funded project will be to reduce the turnaround time for a minimum of 75 percent of cases submitted for DNA analysis by maintaining current staffing levels, procuring annual DNA instrument service contracts, and procuring the annual laboratory information management system license for all DNA analysts to ensure that analysts in the DNA department can perform their job duties with minimal down time. Additionally, laboratory staff will brainstorm for solutions to the challenge that exists for multi-disciplinary evidence, to facilitate the expedient transfer of evidence for DNA analysis.
