Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $25,000)

The Town of Mont Vernon Police Department seeks to fund its new Body Camera program including a contract to purchase 8 body cams, associated docking and storage facilities and annual service plans.

The Town of Mont Vernon is a 16 square mile, rural residential town located in New Hampshire that houses approximately 2700 residents in 900 households.  Its police department is staffed by 8 total full and part-time officers, covering the town, and 5 area towns included in a Mutual Aid Agreement representing an additional population of 37,890 residents benefitting from more transparent policing with the use of Body Worn Cameras.

This program is intended to provide better police encounters, either through the protection of evidence, via recording and storage software, or by assuring reporting parties, witnesses, and those in custody that may prefer to have the contact recorded.
