The Nez Perce Tribe’s law and justice system faces significant challenges, including severe overcrowding, limited courtroom capacity, and safety concerns within its current facilities. These issues compromise public perception, staff morale, and the effectiveness of justice operations. To address these pressing needs, the tribe plans to complete Phase 2 of the Nez Perce Justice Center expansion project. The expansion project aims to double the size of the existing facility, providing essential additions such as a second courtroom, jury room, and improved security measures. By enhancing infrastructure and space, the tribe will alleviate overcrowding, ensure adequate facilities for court proceedings, and enhance safety for both staff and the public.
