Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $899,993)

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan is a federally recognized tribe located in central Michigan. With this funding the tribe will implement supports for permanent supportive housing (PSH) residents in substance use disorder recovery. The purpose is to provide support staff and peer recovery services for successful long term recovery. Project activities include hiring of front desk attendants who will provide transport and other services to residents, training in de-escalation techniques for PSH staff, implementation of peer recovery services, and the building of culture and community for residents of the PSH complex. Expected outcomes are successful long-term recovery due to the provision of wrap around services for residents. Residents of the PSH complex for those in recovery from substance use disorders are the intended beneficiaries of the project.
