Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $825,000)

Cayuga Counseling Services, Inc. will use funding to strengthen and expand their available pre and post release treatment services in Cayuga County, NY to include the following proven effective with the target population: Mobile and Clinic Based Crisis Intervention, Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Correctional Modified Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT-CM), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Hip Hop Therapy (HHT), Hip Hop CBT, and Hip Hop EMDR. These services will be provided to 75 adults and youth who reentering the community following incarceration who have experienced trauma because of a childhood or past victimization, are diagnosed with a DSM 5 disorder, and/or a substance misuse disorder. The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and the Cayuga County Probation Department are MOU partners on the proposed project.
The proposed project compliments the Agency’s newly formed Cayuga Reentry Program which was formed in 2021 with funding from BJA FY 21 Second Chance Act Community-Based Reentry Program. The proposed project will build upon, and not duplicate, the services provided through the existing program by funding two Masters-Level Clinicians who will be trained in evidence-based practices interventions that are designed for justice involved individuals which will eliminate the accessibility of services that exist currently.
