Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $999,996)
The Reclamation Project is seeking funding on behalf of the 2nd Judicial Circuit Drug Court to expand treatment services for non-violent criminal offenders with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorders. These individuals have entered pleas with the court and are from Butler, Crenshaw, and Lowndes counties, all situated in Alabama's Black Belt region. The current capacity of the Adult Treatment Court is limited to 31 participants, and the Reclamation Project aims to expand this capacity by 29, enabling the court to serve 60 participants annually and a total of 240 over a four-year grant period. The primary focus will be on low-income and uninsured adults arrested in these three counties. The project aims to enhance treatment and services in the 2nd Judicial Circuit Court's Adult Treatment Court by expanding referral capacity, improving the range of services offered, and strengthening data collection on recidivism and treatment-related outcomes. These enhancements will support the program's objectives of delivering evidence-based strategies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, integrated services for co-occurring disorders, medication-assisted treatment, and comprehensive recovery support services.
