Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $951,963)
The Lima Municipal Treatment Courts (LMTC) are requesting funding to enhance the programs through improved critical support services, expanded court services, and intensified operations. Funding is also requested to increase capacity and improve access to treatment for program participants. The programs are post-adjudication adult drug court dockets. The LMTC serve Allen County, Ohio which includes populations that have been historically underserved; adversely affected by inequality; and disproportionately impacted by crime, violence, and victimization. During the grant period, a total of 200 individuals will receive critical support services, increased access to treatment, housing, and prosocial services, as well as relapse prevention education, tools, and resources. The expected outcomes from this initiative are reduced recidivism, improved graduation rates, and improved overall quality of life for participants and their families. The intended beneficiaries of the LMTC are high-risk/high-need individuals who have been convicted of multiple offenses related to their drug and/or alcohol use, placing them at high risk of recidivism and in need of significant treatment. This target population is reflective of the arrestee population that is served by this court. All three Food and Drug Administration approved medicated-assisted treatments are available to participants through licensed providers. The LMTC also works to identify and remove barriers to medicated-assisted treatment access for incarcerated individuals.
