Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $1,000,000)
Johnson County, Kansas' Adult Drug Treatment Court (ATC), which began in November 2023, has demonstrated notable success despite the lack of dedicated funding. The program currently operates post-adjudication and is challenged by financial barriers that hinder its expansion. Recognizing these challenges, we are seeking an enhancement grant to expand the capacity of our existing ATC program. This funding will enable us to serve 20 participants who do not currently qualify for services throughout the grant period. Participants will be moderate to high-risk/high-need felony clients motivated by substance use disorders who currently fall outside the eligibility of state-funded services. The minimum participation length is 18 months, with the maximum and average durations yet to be established due to the program's recent inception. Our targeted interventions will focus on early intervention and improved access to all types of medication-assisted treatment services, aiming to reduce the volume of substance use disorder related arrests and enhance overall program effectiveness. By expanding treatment and support services, we anticipate reduced recidivism rates and improved outcomes for ATC participants.
