Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $997,708)

The Superior Court of California, County of San Joaquin, is applying to implement the driving under the influence (DUI) Court Enhancement Project. This project aims to enhance the current DUI court with added benefits to the Hispanic community and expand to San Joaquin South County region. Project activities include hiring one Spanish-speaking case manager; hiring one South County case manager; developing and implementing a DUI court model in Manteca Court; creating a Spanish-speaking peer mentor group; and offering medication-assisted treatment to all clients in need. Expected outcomes include the development of a DUI court in South San Joaquin County for improved access throughout the county, enhanced recovery support services, improved equity and awareness within the Spanish-speaking community, recidivism with a 12% or lower rate among clients, and service to 400 unduplicated individuals during the four-year period.
