Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas, a not-for-profit corporation and federally qualified health center providing services in underserved communities, to underserved populations in Kansas. This Judicial District in Southeast Kansas, a rural area with generational poverty; the poorest, sickest, and most medically underserved in Kansas. The Judicial District is geographically close to three of the busiest roadways in the Midwest; making the Judicial District the only rural multi-county judicial district in the Midwest where all counties are designated high-intensity drug trafficking areas. The Adult Recovery Court is post-plea, pre-sentence, post-adjudication, probation, and probation revocation. The Adult Recovery Court’s purpose is to reduce crime and substance abuse, reunite families, and increase community safety by serving the intended beneficiaries, who are historically marginalized. Intended beneficiaries are high-risk, high-need, non-violent individuals whose crimes are directly or indirectly motivated by alcohol and/or drug use, including those with co-occurring mental disorders. Project activities are intensive case management services, home contacts, drug testing, evidence-based treatment, and social services, modeled off correctional health services in the Judicial District and community health worker program. These services and programs are a catalyst for support and social determinant concerns (e.g., literacy, housing, employment, education, transportation) of participants.
