Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $716,548)

The New Leaf Program located in Geauga County, Ohio began in 2019 and is a 16-24 month evidence based adult drug court program certified by the Ohio Supreme Court Specialized Docket Section. The program serves pre- and post-conviction individuals who are high risk/high need and who meet the eligibility requirements. While in the program, the participants have access to evidence-based treatment, and they are all encouraged to participate in medication-assisted therapy services offered by local treatment agencies. A request for an enhancement will assist at least 60-75 participants to gain access to additional case management services; trauma-based programming; evidence-based treatment opportunities; and establish community partners who will assist in increasing employment services, job training, educational opportunities, and decreasing the barriers to transportation and housing. Expected outcomes include gaining more community collaborations for sustainability, providing further opportunities for the participants to ensure long term recovery, reducing recidivism, and preventing overdoses. The funds will also provide training and education opportunities for those professionals who directly interact with the participants to ensure adherence to best practices.
