The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) will allocate the funds for the Violent Gang and Gun Crime Reduction Program, also known as Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) to support the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the Middle District of Florida (MDFL). Funds will be used to focus on programs designed to reduce the number of shootings and solve crimes related thereto.

The MDFL PSN team will use a targeted approach, already in practice, to find and remove shooters from the community. For FY2024, the PSN team will consider Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Ft. Myers, and Ocala as part of the geographic focus. MDFL PSN Task Forces will support recipients in the areas of enforcement, education, and outreach. The MDFL will incorporate the principles of leadership, partnership, targeted and prioritized enforcement, prevention and accountability into its strategy for this funding.

At least thirty percent (30%) of awarded funds will be used to support gang task forces in MDFL geographic hot spots experiencing a significant or increased presence of criminal or transnational organizations engaging in high levels of violent crime, firearm offenses, human trafficking, and/or drug trafficking.
