Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $252,214)

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) plans to allocate the funds for the Violent Gang and Gun Crime Reduction Program, also known as Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) to support the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the Southern District (SDFL) in efforts to reduce violent crime including but not limited to, felonious firearm crimes and criminal and transnational gang violence and to prevent future criminal activities in the hot spot areas within the SDFL.

The PSN grant strategy will address the primary crime driver which is the continued threat of violent crime in the targeted enforcement areas (TEAs). Geographic focus of the intervention(s) within the SDFL will be placed in the Northside area and South End area of Miami-Dade County; the City of Miami Gardens; the City of Pompano Beach (Broward County); the Lincoln Park neighborhood of the City of Fort Pierce (St. Lucie County); and the City of Riviera Beach (Palm Beach County). PSN efforts will assist in development of law enforcement and prevention strategies aimed at reducing the violent crime problem in the TEAs and to prevent violent crimes from recurring.
