Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $51,886)

Under the umbrella of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), the United States Attorney's Office for the District of the Virgin Islands (USAO-VI) has been entrusted with the pivotal role of Advisor to the PSN Task Force.

The Virgin Islands PSN Task Force will address violent crime within the territory of the Virgin Islands.  Gun violence, robbery, drug trafficking, and gangs continue to plague the entire island, which, based on the island's size, affects everyone. The PSN Team will develop and implement strategies to address violent crime through coordinated enforcement, intervention, prevention, and reentry initiatives within USAO-VI.  Based on the Administration's violent crime reduction strategy that is built on newly articulated core principles, The PSN Task Force will work towards fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations and schools that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, set focus and strategic enforcement priorities, and measure the outcome of our efforts.
