The funds made available through the Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program play a vital role in the Commonwealth of Virginia meeting the challenges faced throughout the criminal justice system. The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services will utilize the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) to continue to support local law enforcement agencies and criminal justice partners, programs, and initiatives, which include: law enforcement equipment, specialized law enforcement training, criminal justice reform, opioid enforcement and training, law enforcement technology upgrades, communication systems, law enforcement, and community engagement programs, drug and gang task force operations, violent crime reduction, community gun violence reduction, law enforcement led diversion programs, officer health and wellness, school and campus safety initiatives, mental health programs and crisis intervention training; and other crime reduction and prevention efforts.
