Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $1,000,000)
Lansing School District (LSD – Applicant and Fiscal Agent) proposes an Office of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance STOP School Violence Program Category 2 grant serving 25 schools and nearly 10,000 PreK – 12 students living and learning in Lansing, Michigan. The project addresses all eight deliverable areas identified by the funding agency. Project services will include but not be limited to: (1) implementing anonymous tip / reporting systems; (2) creating District and School Behavior Threat Assessment Teams; (3) providing professional development and training for educators and students on multiple school violence prevention and school climate strategies; (4) strengthening partnerships with law enforcement and other relevant community agencies / partners and (5) increasing district, school, educator, student, family and community awareness of factors impacting school safety and engagement in school and community violence prevention. Implementation of the project will help Lansing School District and partners meet and exceed the following project goal and measurable objectives:
