The Board of State and Community Corrections Prison Rape Elimination Act Funding

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) will use the reallocated funds to offset the cost to implement the PREA Modular to the Strategic Offender Management System (SOMS), a database program used by CDCR. This enhancement will help maintain PREA compliance, assist with audits and meet Federal and State reporting requirements. The PREA enhancement will automate tracking of all PREA investigations, collect data, and provide information and reports that will promote compliance with federal standards. The PREA Modular will help streamline PREA related cases and enhance CDCR’s approach to detecting and responding to allegations of sexual abuse and sexual harassments through data sharing across CDCR’s institutions.
