Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $91,225)
The Sussex County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) is respectfully seeking funding for the purchase of 70 body-worn cameras and their software. The SCSO has worked with a viable vendor to determine the best body-worn cameras and software that will be implemented to best fit the needs of the SCSO sworn officers. The product that was chosen was a body-worn camera bundle that includes the following items:
- FOCUS Body Worn Camera
- Software Right To Use License
- Software Maintenance and Technical Support
- Hardware Warranty and Technical Support
- Replacement camera every 24 months
If funded, this project will ensure all sworn officers have updated, quality BWCs for the foreseeable future. Because the current equipment will be obsolete by the end of this year, it is extremely important that the BWCs and their software are replaced soon. Additionally, this proposed project will allow the SCSO to upgrade its hard drive-based storage system to a cloud-based storage system, allowing for unlimited data storage and more manageable sharing properties. This is extremely important to ensure that the officers of the SCSO are equipped with BWC technology that is cost-beneficial, has training capabilities, and provides transparency and accountability that will aid in the de-escalation of possible escalated instances where body-camera footage is necessary.
