Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $25,066)

This grant proposal seeks funding to expand our existing body-worn camera (BWC) program by acquiring an additional 15 units for deployment across our police agency. Building on the success of our current BWC initiative, which has demonstrated significant improvements in officer accountability and community relations, this expansion aims to enhance transparency and operational efficiency within our department.

The proposed expansion will strategically deploy BWCs to patrol units that currently lack coverage, ensuring comprehensive video documentation of law enforcement activities during critical interactions. Each camera will be equipped with advanced features such as high-definition recording, secure cloud storage, and integration with our existing data management systems to ensure compliance with federal standards and protect the integrity of captured footage.

By bolstering our BWC capabilities, we anticipate a further improvement in community realtions as well as increased efficiencies in evidence collection and incident resolution. This initiative aligns with federal priorities to promote accountable policing practices through technology adoption and community engagement. Our agency is committed to leveraging BWCs not only as tools for enhancing officer safety and professionalism but also as instruments for building public trust and fostering positive community relationships.
