Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $16,089)
The Glendale Police Department (GPD) seeks $16,089 in funding from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program to support its Law Enforcement Program efforts in addressing violent Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC). The requested funds will be used to provide overtime for detectives in the ICAC unit, allowing them to expand their investigations and increase the number of arrests of individuals involved in the exploitation and abuse of children online. This funding will enhance the department's capacity to focus on these complex and time-sensitive investigations, ensuring that perpetrators are apprehended and prosecuted. This project directly aligns with the Law Enforcement Programs statutory program area as outlined in the JAG solicitation. The overtime for detectives is specifically aimed at enhancing law enforcement’s capacity to prevent, investigate, and respond to violent Internet Crimes Against Children. These activities are critical to protecting the public, especially vulnerable children, and upholding community safety.
