Public safety equipment

The agencies applying for this grant are the Minot Police Department, located in the City of Minot, ND, and the Ward County Sheriff's Department, located in Ward County, ND.  The proposal for the Ward County Sheriff's Department includes a receiver hitch-mounted camera; drug and drug paraphernalia training kit.   The purpose is the camera can be used to remotely monitor large public events such as concerts and street festivals.  The ability to remotely view such events will contribute to public safety by serving as a visual deterrent to criminal activity and enhance investigations post-incident. The proposal for the Minot Police Department is radar speed display signs The purpose is to enhance public traffic safety through means of static display of motorist's speed. These signs provide a deterrent, thus enhancing public safety.  Studies have shown that increased speed increases the risk of bodily injury or death in traffic crashes.  Signs will be placed in areas of community concern and will add to the existing strategic placement of other signs.
