Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $16,809)
The Logan County Sheriff’s Department serves the County of Logan in Southern West Virginia. Logan County is mostly rural with no metropolitan areas. There is a lack of public transportation and our population hovers around 32,000 as of the last census. The Logan County Sheriff’s Department is updating and modernizing our Record Management Systems (RMS) as our funding for FY 2024 JAG funds. This funding will allow the Logan County Sheriff’s Department to continue to work towards updating our new RMS system to allow real-time date sharing between us and Logan County 911. Also, this request will help pay overtime costs for the civilian staffer who inputs most data and reports into our current and future RMS system. Along with allotting overtime for sworn members but direct patrols in problem areas as well our overtime for sworn officers to utilize, review, and train on our new body-worn cameras. Our department has 26 sworn officers, therefore our timeline for this JAG funding would be for one federal fiscal year, from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025.
