Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $17,315)
The Junction City Police Department will use funds to improve the audio and video equipment in the training room. The training room is a multipurpose room used not only for in-house training but also serves as the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during Natural Disasters and other emergencies. Our current audio and video equipment is outdated and insufficient to meet the demands of modern law enforcement training and to facilitate an effective EOC during disasters. Upgrading this equipment is essential to enhance our training programs by implementing audiovisual technology, which will facilitate more interactive and effective training sessions.
The Geary County Sheriffs Department would like to use the funds to purchase a Mantis Blackbeard X Shot training system which is a laser-based system that tracks multiple factors during the shot process to make shooters more accurate and efficient. All of this is tracked by using a phone-based app to record deficiencies and areas of improvement. In addition, if approved they would like to purchase (4) Uniden Touchscreen scanners to replace the older legacy UHF System. Earlier this year the City and County switched to the 800 MHz trunked radio
