Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $18,047)
The City of Norwalk will use JAG funds to pay overtime to increase patrols, improve safety and security, and reduce crime at locations such as houses of worship, election sites, commerce hubs, transportation hubs, waterways, roadways, parks, housing complexes, and schools. Security initiatives and added police presence may be needed on any date and time, but will be focused on holidays and special events, during weekends and on dates and times when vehicular, vessel, and pedestrian traffic is elevated. Funds will be used for added police presence following a critical incident to help assuage fears of recurrence or further threats or acts of violence. JAG funds will also be used to purchase audio-visual-GPS-enabled monitoring equipment to be used in undercover and covert organized crime and narcotics investigations, as well as, two new laser devices for speed enforcement and a speed feedback sign.
